Spring has sprung here in New England . . . or rather winter has ended, more or less.  Some days are surprisingly warm and sunny.  Other days are soggy and muddy.  It appears that the Easter bunny will not be leaving eggs nestled in snow clumps this year. (more…)

My husband, Dan, and I just completed a month-long, intensive on-line course called “Renewing Your Relationship” ( www.todoinstitute.org ).  It’s so easy to allow one’s relationship to take the back burner to work and kids.  Since Dan and I have both been through divorces, we are very aware that our marriage, as our primary relationship, requires attention, focus and energy. I have a property for sale on the seacoast of New Hampshire and it’s supposed to be sold by now . . . at least, according to my own personal time table.  We’ve done all the right things:  fixed up the 220 year old house, made cosmetic improvements, hired a cracker-jack real estate agent, marketed and publicized. “Why are so many lights on?” Dan used to ask when we were new to each other’s living habits.  “Because I can’t see a thing,” I would answer.  My typical response to winter nights was to turn on every light that I could get my hands on . . . starting at 4pm.  Even mounting electric bills couldn’t curb my craving for brightly lit rooms.
