New Year’s Weave

Here we are on the cusp of another year – time for my annual contemplative “Hope and Cope Report.”  Rather than making a stale New Year’s resolution, this is my tradition of intentional reflection. With 4 simple columns marked “Knowns”, “Unknowns”, “Hopes”, and “Surprises,” I fill in the blanks of the past year and create a new sheet with my best predictions for the coming year.Looking back on 2010, I can see that the year’s events were more unexpected than I could have imagined. I didn’t know if I would sell my manuscript for “Shortcuts to Inner Peace” but I did (publication in late 2011)!  My dog Hickory was forecast to die of cancer but he didn’t.  The house I thought we’d sell, we ended up renting.  And my beloved bunny, Bella, went into the wild and never returned. What I love about this review ritual is that it offers me an aerial perspective in which all of my life’s unexpected and disparate threads become an emerging tapestry.   And so as I move into 2011, I open myself to the mystery, to the wonder of each thread as it joins others to create the fabric of my life.  Tonight, I will lift my glass and toast to the New Year’s weave. To receive Ashley’s weekly blog via email Click

Reflection is what it is all about, my hope for the new year is to be more patient with myself and allow things to flow without too much worry on my part and just enjoy the day, each day, like it is the most important day I’ve got. I like your association of life to a tapestry that is always being added too.

    Happy New Year

Thank You : I try my hardest just making it from one day to the other. I keep thinking that the journey that I have been traveling is finally coming to and end but then something else looms up to block that escape.

Take it one day at a time. Sometimes the ‘blocks’ are actually opportunities to keep learning. Blessings on the journey and the ongoing creation of your rich tapestry.
